3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION

Under normal use conditions, this product is stable. May give off various organic acids and pyrogallol under action of extreme heat. Aqueous solutions are easily fermentable. The product hydrolysis allows to get gallic acid.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Skin contact Wash with water
Eyes contact Wash with plenty of water
Ingestion Drink large amount of liquids and make vomit if person is conscious.
Inhalation Wash mucous membranes. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.

 

5. FIRE PRECAUTIONS/FIRE FIGHTING

All extinguisher types can be used.

In case of fire, the product can give off SO2, SO3, pyrogalol. Respiratory masks are recommended.

 

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE

Workers' protection Wear personal protective clothes
Protection and cleaning Sweep up, wash residue with water and mix residue with sawdust. Dispose of according to local regulations or incinerate.
Neutralisation In aqueous solution, the product precipitates the metallic salts and specially alumine sulphate.

 

7. HANDLING & STORAGE

Handling Wear respiratory masks to avoid respiring dusts or absorbing by inhalation. Use no hook.
Storage Keep away from air and humidity. The product is slightly hygroscopic and becomes oxidised with air.

Hands Rubber or PVC gloves and protective clothes can be advised

 

Follow good hygiene conditions and wear personal protective equipment.

10. STABILITY & REACTIVITY

Under normal use conditions, this product is stable. It precipitates in presence of metallic salts and specially iron ones and gelatine. At high temperature, may give off pyrogallol.

 

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

We have no figure on toxicological values actually.

The preparation is made with the natural fruits of the tree and a sequestrating agent is added.

No disastrous effect, no sensitisation to this product have been reported until today.

As every pulverulent product the powder may provoke respiratory problems by inhalation.

 

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Natural product of high molecular weight ; biodegradability is low. The product is very sensitive to metallic salts and is disposed of in waste waters under the form of mud by treatment with alumine sulphate. Although the effects on environment and waters are not disastrous, at the moment we have no figure on ecotoxicity.

 

13. WASTE DISPOSAL

Dispose of according to local regulations.

The product is eliminated of aqueous solutions by precipitation under the form of muds with alumine sulphate (formation of alumine tannate).

Elimination of residue and packing by incineration.

The product is not regulated.
