2. PRODUCT COMPOSITION

Composition Synthetic tannin based mainly on phenol condensate and resin complexed with sodium lignosulphonate.

3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION

Under normal use conditions, this product is stable.

May give off SOx, COx and irritant fumes under action of extreme heat.

5. FIRE PRECAUTIONS/FIRE FIGHTING

All extinguisher types can be used. The product is non flammable but combustible.

People fighting against fire must wear respirators to be protected from irritant dust and fumes.

 

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE

Workers' protection Avoid respiring dust and wear respirators
Cleaning Sweep up and mix residue with wood saw or sand
Neutralisation In aqueous solution, the active product is precipitated by metallic salts, particularly iron salts and gelatine. The composition is considered as biodegradable and without danger for environment.

 

7. HANDLING & STORAGE

Handling Product does not require any special care but we advise to wear mask to avoid respiring dust
Storage Store in cool dry place. Protect from moisture.
Caution Use no hook for handling the bags

10. STABILITY & REACTIVITY

Under normal use conditions, this product is stable.

Decomposition products : May give off SO2, SO3, nitrogen and irritant fumes under action of extreme heat.

Materials to be avoided : Product reacts with iron salts, heavy metal salts, gelatine, albumine and oxidising agents.

 

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Rat injection : LD 50 > 5,000 mg/Kg

Tests carried out on pure phenolic type syntan give the following results :

Rabbit skin : slightly irritant

Rabbit eyes : slightly irritant

Ligninsulphonate complex and derivatives are not classified as skins and eyes irritant.

 

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

We have no information available regarding effect on environment and biodegradability. The content of free formaldehyde is less than 1°/oo. The complex of lignosulphonate is classified as very weakly hazardous to water.

Free phenol content : < 20 ppm

EEC regulation concerning phenol evacuation in waters give as maximum content of free phenol : < 0,1 mg/l

 

13. WASTE DISPOSAL

In aqueous solution, the product is precipitated by metallic salts, specially iron salts and aluminium salts.

Product and packing destruction : by incineration.

Dispose of according to local regulations.
