Natural extract of Yellow Wood in spraydried powder. Colour Index : 75 660.
CAS 519 34 6
EINECS 208 268 2
2. PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
Aspect : spraydried powder
Colour : orange
Active substances : 95%
pH (10 g/l solution) : 6.3 +- 1.0
3. CHARACTERISTICS
ECODYE CNOK contains two dyeing principles :
- Morin or morol which is little soluble in cold water, chemical composition of which classifies it in the group of flavonol plants,
- Maclurin, very soluble in water, chemically constituted of pentahydroxibenzophenone.
Yellow wood extract is mostly known in the textile industry under the name " Old Fustic ". Dyeing on various fibres gives sustained yellow colours. As very natural dyes, colours depend on the mordant used :
ALUM Straw coloured
IRON SULPHATE Olive green
SODIUM BICHROMATE Havana brown
4. APPLICATIONS
The precipitation of the dye in acid media, according to the mordant used, forms an insoluble lacquer which is very fast to washing. The processes of dyeing with different mordants (used alone or in combination in order to obtain various colours) are so numerous that they cannot be reported here.
There are two methods for dyeing :
- either the fibre is mordanted by the metallic salt before dyeing
- or the mordant is used after prior dyeing of the fibre.
ECODYE CNOK can be used in the same time than synthetic dyes as shading agent bringing the yellow element in order to modify the final colours.
