HEMATINE CFHK
1. COMPOSITION
HEMATINE CFHK is obtained from Logwood (Hematoxylon Campechianum) partially oxidized by air.
2. PHYSICAL and CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
Aspect : powder
Colour : bluish black
pH (10 % solution) : 7.0 +- 1.0
Colour on leather : depending on the mordant used
3. CHARACTERISTICS
The air oxidation of Hematoxylin gives Haematein, allows a severe decomposition of the glucosides and reduces the tanning properties of Logwood. This characteristic of HEMATINE CFHK is very much appreciated for garment leather giving better fullness without any risk of overtanning the grain side.
HEMATINE CFHK being semi-oxidized, there is no risk of oxidation which would minimize the tinctorial value.
HEMATINE CFHK is a mordant dye. The formation of Werner complex will take place by adding metallic salts after dyeing and acidification. The main shades usually are
Iron + Copper blue-black
Aluminium indigo
Copper dark blue
O.T.P. brownish black
In order to ensure a constant shade, HEMATINE CFHK contains a shading agent.
Hematine CFHK is ideal for the production of box calf and glazed kid.
4. APPLICATIONS
- Clothing and garment (blue, brown, black)
- Dyeing of suede skin
- Dyeing in black for tawed skin and white crust leather
- Glazed kid
The low concentration in tanning materials present in HEMATINE CFHK is considered as an advantage since it will reduce blind grain and give a slight tannage.
