HEMATINE CPMK
1. COMPOSITION
Natural wood dye extracted from Logwood (Hematoxylon Campechianum). This extract is not oxidized and keeps all the natural properties, mainly the tannin content.
2. PHYSICAL and CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
Aspect : powder
Colour : chocolate brown
pH (10 % solution) : 5.3 +- 1.0
Total solids : 94 %
Colour on leather : from blue to black
3. CHARACTERISTICS
Logwood or Campeche wood rasped in fine shivers is treated by boiling aqueous extraction. The liquor from the dark coloured crusts is concentrated by evaporation and finally atomised.
HEMATINE CPMK contains mainly Hematoxylin, glucosides and materials of iron greening tannins type.
HEMATINE CPMK keeps all the original tanning properties of natural Logwood which is useful in retanning process. This particularity is interesting in the dyeing of suede skin.
Non oxidized HEMATINE CPMK has a very good penetration on chrome tanned leather. After acidification, in order to exhaust the bath, it is recommended to stabilize Hematein by using metallic salts.
On textile fabrics, natural tannins of HEMATINE CPMK will act as mordant.
The colouring principle, Hematoxylin, could be fixed by oxidizing metallic salts such as potassium or sodium bichromate, chromate in order to obtain insoluble deep black complex which has a wet and dry rub resistance, good washing and light fastness. This action imparts also a reactivity to heat which is essential in case of glazed kid and aniline leather article.
4. APPLICATIONS
- Fur dyeing (Astrakan)
- Textile or synthetic fabrics
- Dyeing in dark blue and black on leather
- Dyeing of suede skin without basic dyes
- Glazed kid and box calf
