HEMATIN NHCK

1. COMPOSITION

Obtained from logwood (Haematoxylon Campechianum), Hematine NHCK is a natural tanning dyewood, half oxidised.

2. PHYSICAL and CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Aspect : powder

Color : blue black

pH (10 % solution) : 6.5 +- 1.0

Colour on leather : according to the mordant

3. CHARACTERISTICS

The air oxidation of Hematoxylin gives Haematein, allows a severe decomposition of the glucosides and reduces the tanning properties of Logwood. This characteristic of HEMATINE NHCK is very much appreciated for garment leather giving better fullness without any risk of overtanning the grain side.

HEMATINE NHCK being semi-oxidized, there is no risk of oxidation which would minimize the tinctorial value.

HEMATINE NHCK is a mordant dye. The formation of Werner complex will take place by adding metallic salts after dyeing and acidification. The main shades usually are :

Iron + copper : blue-black

Aluminium : indigo

Copper : dark blue

O.T.P. : brownish black

4. APPLICATIONS

- Clothing and garment (blue, brown, black)
- Dyeing of suede skin
- Textile
