1. COMPOSITION

RETAN BL is a liquid tanning extract prepared mainly from Sumac Rhus Coriaria leaves. This is the purest among hydrolisable vegetable tannins.

2. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Aspect : liquid

Colour : dark brown

Active substances : 45 %

pH (10 % solution) : 3.5 +- 1.0

3. CHARACTERISTICS

Sumac is the noblest and most used tanning material. It is suitable for delicate tannages : fancy leathers, Cordovan, luxury leather goods, to which it gives clear light-fast colour and good suppleness.

RETAN BL used alone during tannage gives a leather with nut yellow colour, full and regular tannage and soft touch. It can be mixed in any proportion with vegetable and synthetic tannins.

4. APPLICATIONS

- Tannage and retannage of reptile : 25 to 40 % on pelt weight

- Vegetable tannage of fine leathers, saddlery, fancy leathers : not over one third of the tanning mixture

- Retannage of lambskins : 5 to 10 % according to the characteristics required (touch, dyeing, levelling).

- Improves the light fastness of pastel leathers.
