RETAN BLK is a sweet tanning extract of pyrogallol type based on Sumac (Rhus Coriaria, Rhus Cotinus).

2. PHYSICAL and CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Colour : yellow

Total solids : 93 - 95 %

pH (10 % solution) : 3.3 +- 1.0

3. CHARACTERISTICS

RETAN BLK is used for the tannage of all types of skins. It gives clear colours with very good light fastness properties, and supple leather.

In vegetable tannage, RETAN BLK is used for the production of special leathers : reptiles, Morocco, Cordovan leathers. RETAN BLK is also used for the processing of shrunken-grain leather.

It is almost used in retannage as mordant in the dyeing of fine shades.

RETAN BLK is the best vegetable tannin to improve basic dyes fixation. Consequently, it is recommended in the manufacture of suede.

4. APPLICATIONS

- Tannage and retannage of reptile and crocodile skins

- Retannage of fine skins : lamb, kid, box calf

- Tannage of skins for obtaining shrunken-grain

- Mordanting of chrome skins before or after acid dyeing

- Laking of basic dyes before of after dyeing

- Levelling agent : for chrome suede skins, mordanting before or during the dyeing with acid dyes provokes a slight tannage of the fibers : the fullness is improved without affecting the suppleness.
