3. CHARACTERISTICS

RETAN GL is used as auxiliary in the processing of tanned leathers. It improves the levelling of dyes. It is most suitable as filling tannin and as mordant of basic dyes. It is compatible with either acid or direct dyes.

Thanks to its great filling and softening power, it is suitable for further processing of leathers which have become too flat and firm after the first tannage.

It allows to improve the touch and the fullness of garment leather, chrome tanned, such as : lambs, sheeps, kids. In the case of chrome upper leather (vachette), it imparts good filling of bellies and softies without any spongy texture.

Compared to other vegetable tanning extracts, it has the property of better keeping the character of the chrome tanned grain.

Thanks to its tanning properties, RETAN GL facilitates the buffing of chrome tanned leathers. In the case of Suede, finer buffing effect is achieved.

The grain is fine without being firm. In combination with DUVALTAN DCL, it imparts strong burnishability and glazability to chrome leather.
