3. CHARACTERISTICS

Wattle extract is the most used among the existing tannins in the world. Its pale colour and tanning properties are well known but used alone, wattle has weak light fastness.

By modification of the natural acidity of wattle extract and the addition of discoloured tannins, the composition of RETAN MD keeps all the tanning properties of the pure extract and gives full, through-tanned leather with improved light resistance.

RETAN MD is almost used in mixture with other extracts for vegetable tanning.

RETAN MD is currently used in the retannage of chrome leather in order to give fullness and tight grain which is easy to buff.
