3. CHARACTERISTICS

The most important characteristic of RETAN PTK is the content in the tannin of a high proportion of natural derived products based on complex glycosids.

Those organic compounds, rich in " OH " hydroxyle sites have the properties of fixing on collagen fibers without inducing dehydration as it is usually happening with common vegetable tannins.

If some operating conditions are followed - retannage in short bath for example - it allows a considerable increase in leather thickness while keeping very good suppleness.

RETAN PTK brings pleasant touch to leather and as it is hygroscopic, it is particularly recommended for improving leathers which have bad tear resistance.

4. APPLICATIONS

- All leather requiring suppleness, roundness, softness.

- For increasing thickness in the case of glazed kids or garment sheepskins

Quantities advised :

- Glazed kids 2-3 % RETAN PTK in combination with RETAN FG 211

- Garment lambskins 8-10 % RETAN PTK without addition of Syntan

- Box Calf 2-4 % RETAN PTK
