Liquid extract of Tara obtained from pods of Caesalpinia Tinctoria. Tara is part of pyrogallol or hydrolysable tannins and is classified in the group of gallotannins.

3. CHARACTERISTICS

RETAN TL is an extract of Tara sweetened for allowing through-tanning without grain crispation. RETAN TL however keeps its important natural astringency due to its high tannin content and a valuable T/NT ratio.

In tannage, it is recommended to firstly use our SYNTEX AP in order to obtain a good penetration of Tara extract.

RETAN TL produces white leather which is very fast to light. In combination with other veg tannins, RETAN TL allows to obtain pastel shades with better light resistance.

RETAN TL has been specially formulated for facilitating tanner's work. As a matter of fact, spraydried Tara extract requires many attentions : dissolution is delicate and tiresome. On the contrary, RETAN TL can be used and mixed without problem with all other tanning solutions.

4. APPLICATIONS

RETAN TL can be used in mixture in any proportion with other tanning extracts except the cationic ones. Main applications are :

- Tanning of hides and skins without chrome

- Vegetable tanning in white or in mixture for obtaining very pale leathers

- Retannage of exotic skins

- Retannage of leather for getting improved light fastness
