1. COMPOSITION
Sweetened vegetable tanning extracts of pyrogallic type for obtaining leather with light colour.
2. PHYSICAL and CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
Aspect : powder
Colour : pale hazelnut
pH (10 % solution) : 4.0 +- 1.0
3. CHARACTERISTICS
RETAN TO powder is easily soluble in water.
RETAN TO has a medium astringency which allows to obtain sole leather with a nice light colour without risk of crispation.
Contrary to synthetic tannins, RETAN TO has no decolouring effect. The shades on leather tanned with RETAN TO are uniform and without spots.
For sole leather, equipment leather and leather goods, we advice to use RETAN TO in the last additions of tanning extracts.
Lightfastness of leather tanned with RETAN TO is much better compared to the ones tanned with other tanning extracts such as Mimosa, Quebracho, Chestnut.
4. APPLICATIONS
RETAN TO gives smooth grain without crispation and good tanning ratio.
Even if RETAN TO gives quick through-tanning, it is mainly used in the two or three last additions of tanning extracts at the end of the process in order to obtain pale and softy leathers :
- Vegetable tanning of sole leather
- Vegetable tanning of leather goods
- Retanning of cow, box calf, goats
- Mordanting of leather before dyeing
- Light hazelnut colour on leather
