The group’s main activities
are :
- manufacturing of chemical products,
- coffee trading,
- wood trading.
Within S.C.R-D, the Chemical
Products division was formerly known as «Compagnie Française des
Extraits, Maison Westphalen». This company was founded in 1865 and joined
the E.R-D group in 1985.
S.C.R-D manufactures mainly for the leather industry, but produces also components for the pharmaceutical, wine, textile and various other industries.
At the disposal of its customers, SCRD has a team of chemists, generalists or specialists, a world-wide network of vegetable suppliers and nearly 150 years of experience in vegetable chemicals.
SCRD believes in the long term : sustainable development has been a principle of ours since the beginning and some of our products have been sold for more than 100 years, respecting Nature and the environment.
Every year, SCRD invests more than 4 % of its sales in R & D : next to traditional products, we constantly create new ones in order to answer the market demands.
Within
the leather industry, S.C.R-D specialises in tanning and colouring chemical
products, both synthetic and vegetable. In particular, S.C.R-D has a world-wide
reputation for its vegetable products manufactured from Gambier, Tara, Sumac,
Myrobolam, Logwood, Fustic wood, etc. This enables the company to serve not
only the traditional tanning and colouring process, but also the emerging trend
for « chrome-free » leather.
More than 75 % of our sales are exported towards Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Our quality insurance procedures, developed long before we were granted the
ISO 9002 certification (1997), have given us a well owned reputation of reliability
concerning the quality of our products.
Our team of highly qualified
engineers can develop customised products and provides our customers with a
world-wide technical assistance : trials and new products’ demonstrations
are made the whole year long within our customers’ laboratories or factories.
On the tannery market, we also have a world-wide network of agents, active on the main markets.
