As every natural dyestuff, the product cannot be disposed of in water without preliminary elimination.

- It is sensitive to metallic salts and oxidising agents.

 

- The product is very sensitive to light.

No effect has been reported until today. In fact, purified oxidised product “Hemateine” has been approved by Food & Drug Administration in USA as dyestuff for suture threads.

No information are available in respect with ecological effect.

 

As natural reagent used for more than 150 years, the product is not toxic. Nevertheless, as dyestuff, it follows the same regulations than synthetic dyes regarding effects on water.

 

The product is mainly used in laboratory for:

 

-          biological stain

-          reagent for colorimetric determination of aluminium

-          histology (Weigert Method)

The product precipitates as complex with metallic salts.

 

Dispose of to approved area in accordance with local regulations or incinerate.
